Jillian Dodd has developed three fictional characters that grabbed onto my heart and wouldn’t let go long after I turned the last page of That Boy. Jadyn aka JJ, and Phillip are best friends almost from birth. I loved the first half of this book. It reads as a series of diary entries chronicling, tomboy Jadyn's friendship with two very charming boys, Phillip and Danny. The story opens with one of the boys asking Jadyn to marry him! The fun is trying to figure out which one is asking. Which one is "That Boy"? The story flashes back to Jadyn's first diary entry as a child, I think as a fourth grader. I loved this book, God, I loved this book! Such a unique tale of love and friendship with an absolutely adorable protagonist whom I loved so much. The writing is fun, quirky and realistic....the author manages to tell the story of JJ's life throughout the years and the writing reflects JJs current age perfectly each time! I never wanted to stop reading....I was sad when it was coming to an end....I wanted more!

I really enjoyed this book.
I had a hard time for awhile because I thought the wrong people were getting together. Then by the end, I realized I was wrong. It was meant to be the way it was.

This book made me, happy, then really sad, then hopefully, then disappointment, then Love and Joy. It took me all by surprise but isn't that what makes a great book. The ability to change my mood with each turn of a page.
