I Am Alive is so amazing! It's captivating in every sense. The characters are all awesome. I love Woo even though his appearance was brief; Leo for being a huge help to Decca's survival; and obviously Decca for her peculiarity, and odd and slightly-sick sense of humor.

In I Am Alive teenagers are rated on a scale from 1 - 10. Everybody wants to be a 10 and is raised from birth to be the best that they can be and hopefully they will be a 10. When it is time for Decca to be rated the system says she is a monster and monsters are considered a nuisance and a burden to society and will always be below their standard of expectations and must fight for their right to live.

I LOVED this! Read the whole book in a night because I could not wait to see what happened next. Others say they think it is like Hunger Games but I have never read that series. I do love how our past and present slip into the references of the futuristic world. Xitler is their kind of Hitler and is killing off what he calls "Monsters" to try and make the perfect race of "10s", Writer Stephen Zing or artist David Zowie, the desert celebration Burning Man as well made me chuckle. I love the concept behind this book. The author has a very creative imagination and brings the land of the Burning Man to incredible light. The underlying emergence of a love story is also something that I enjoyed. There were a couple of things I wasn't sure about, but I still really loved the book. ...more

At first i thought i was going to be like the hunger games, but its different. I like books like the hunger games and divergent. this one is just like those two books.
