I'm confused. I- I really have no idea how to rate this book. Usually, my ratings are based on some gut feeling. This time, however, it's... Difficult. Let me explain why. And keep in mind that it's just how I felt and what I thought.

I'm confused. I- I really have no idea how to rate this book. Usually, my ratings are based on some gut feeling. This time, however, it's... Difficult. Let me explain why. And keep in mind that it's just how I felt and what I thought.

Everything that Gabby felt, I felt. I cried. A lot. Especially the ending got to me. It's easy to relate to Gabby. She loves chocolate, she's clumsy, a little bit geeky, and has some insecurities. Her family has basically destroyed her with their conditional love and selfish ways. She's no longer really living her life, more like simply existing. She feels empty and she's tired of the predictable. And she may not know that yet, but she wants to feel and live and love again. She's exactly the kind of girl that may live just next door. Nothing too special about her, yet, like we all, she too has her story to tell.

I have to say that Brad was exactly what Gabby needed. He's nice and funny and polite. He treats her well and actually listens to her. Their first encounters had me laughing so hard it hurt. Everything about them felt like a first love. Sweet and kind of hesitant. And while I did like Brad, I never actually fell in love with him. I could see Gabby loving him, but that was one of the things I just couldn't feel... :/

Another problem I had was that I just couldn't get into this book. And this was despite the fact that I cried and laughed while reading it. Somehow I found myself skipping parts of this book and feeling guilty afterwards. Maybe it was just the mood I was in or something else, but I had really hard time concentrating...

Still I enjoyed much of this story. Just watching how Gabby fought with her fear of loving again and ended up winning was beautiful.

Should you read it? I'd simply say, "Don't pay any attention to my review. It's purely my opinion. Just buy the book and find out yourself."

My rating: Now, when it comes to my rating, I'd give it 3.5. But since I'm not a fan of halving my precious birdies, I'm gonna go with 4. ...more

Sweet, fun read. I really loved Brad and loved the way he and Gabby take their time getting to know one another and develop a friendship before jumping into things. Gabby's story reached and grabbed me from the get go, but then there was a great lull, for me, while we fooled around with another character, Dane. I felt like this could have been shorter and we could've spent more time with Brad and Gabby. Maybe because I fell in love with him and wanted more of him! ...more
