You think you know Macsen Sloan......but you don't. He is so much more complex than you could have imagined in Every Which Way. Get ready for an incredibly intense, gripping, sexy and intellectually stimulating read. I cannot get enough of this book and it is now one of my very favorites!!!

First, I must say that I read somewhere that a reader thought Breaking the Wrong was a stand-alone book and didn’t think you needed to read book one beforehand. I would strongly disagree with that statement. Not only would you be clueless about half of what is going on, you would also entirely miss out on the evolution of the main character which is the point of this book. When I started Breaking the Wrong I was desperate for more from Thayer & Severine. I loved their story and the two of them as a couple. I wasn’t exactly anxious for Mascen & Emilia’s story; Emilia made me nervous and I wasn’t a big fan of Mascen after the drama in Every Which Way. I just didn’t think I would be as drawn to them as individuals and/or as a couple. Well, that was dumb. I should have known Calia Read would whip me into shape and change my mind. I love it when I am wrong.

I can honestly say that I felt even more connected to Emilia & Mascen’s story. Maybe it was the dual POV but I truly think it was more than that. Sometimes books get bogged down with too much inner dialogue, but not in this case. Every bit of it was essential to unraveling the story and the mystery of the past. I didn’t skim one page. I savored and analyzed every paragraph because it wasn’t redundant and was imperative to the story. The author allowed us to get to know both characters and understand the what and why of their past and how they came to be who they were. The past was expertly woven into the story and kept me as a reader on my toes desperate to tie the past and present together.

This book had double the emotion of book one. The angst was just the right amount and felt warranted; their emotions were valid and appropriate based on the crux of the story. Both the emotional & sexual chemistry between Emilia & Mascen was convincing and incredible; their passion and emotional connection was just the right dose for this story. Calia Read stepped it up a bit in regards to the steam factor in this book and she found the perfect balance between tenderness and smexiness.

Calia Read covered a lot of ground in this book. We were able to get to know characters a little better and understand the severity and depth of tragedy that makes up the Sloan Brothers history. We also got to see a different side of Severine which I liked. Her fierceness and protectiveness really stood out in this book.

My only complaint: it ended quite abruptly. I was expecting an epilogue similar to the one we received at the end of Every Which Way (nothing major but just a little something to get us to the next book). The emotions were so high at the end of the book, and a little more closure would have helped me walk it off.

That said, I LOVED it. Knowing that it just keeps getting better, I cannot wait for Mathias’ book and more from the Sloan Brothers & Co.

I completely fell in love with Emilia and Macsen! My heart literally clenched - I was so deeply rooted in their story. In Every Which Way Macsen and even Emilia were presented to the readers in such a flawed way... I was uncertain how this book would turn out. Lemme preface this by saying, after reading Every Which Way earlier in the day, i was NOT a Macsen fan. At all. I started this book blindly because i NEEDED more Thayer and Severine. Imagine my dismay when I start reading and realize that this book is about Macsen and Emilia. I was kinda thinking, do I really want to read this?

I gotta say, *happy sigh*. SO glad I did.

I'm torn on how I should rate this book. I loved Macsen but I didn't like Emilia as much however I also enjoyed that I got some glimpses of Severine and Thayer. I actually had to stop reading somewhere around 40% because she was starting to bother me. I didn't feel the fiery romance coming from her, all I felt was that she was like a bouncing ball (whiny and dramatic), I get it but I just didn't feel strongly about her character. Or maybe I just want Macsen all for myself, I wish there was more ...more

This book is so much better than the first book in the Sloan Brothers series. For starters you can actually tell who is talking and what is being said. I did find the first part of the book was a little slow and it took me a while to get into the book. However once the truth came out with the twist I wasn't expecting I was riveted and found myself reading with earnest as I unravelled the story.

I love the Sloan brothers! I wanted a little more of Thayer and Serverine, but I understand this is Macen's story and I loved him. I had a hard time with most of part 1 because I wasn't warming up to Emilia because I didn't know her full story. Once I got it I loved the book and it was great!
