Well, first off, this is a CHRISTIAN book. I don't know why anyone who isn't the least bit religious would pick this up and then ramble a five page complaint in their reviews about how overly religious it is...Strange...but whatever.

I’m Christian So I was naturally drawn to this book, but I’m not usually a fan of Christian non-fiction so I didn’t really know what to expect. I’ll say that everything was pleasing, I enjoyed the Scriptures and the lessons tied to them by the author’s writing. Ever Well, first off, this is a CHRISTIAN book. I’m Christian So I was naturally drawn to this book, but I’m not usually a fan of Christian non-fiction so I didn’t really know what to expect. I’ll say that everything was pleasing, I enjoyed the Scriptures and the lessons tied to them by the author’s writing. Everything came together as a cohesive message, that we, as children of the Most High God, are winners and we should behave as such.

This book will encourage your faith and build you up in the Word of God. It’s a great text for those who aren’t sure where to begin their Bible studies but also a nice read for those Christians looking for a pick-me-up. I felt better after reading many of the chapters and I do think I have a better grasp of my faith and how to handle myself in life’s many difficult situations. Sometimes we face trials and sometimes we don’t know where God is during those trials but after reading You Are A Winner, you will learn how to grow closer to the Father and know that He is there, even though you may not feel Him.

One of the quotes from the preface, “We are imprisoned in awful attitudes…” I think this is the strongest line from the book, it starts off very powerfully right from the beginning. Many Christians, young and old, struggle with keeping up the faith and it starts with their thinking. I think Ibiloye really did well addressing this from the start, because if you don’t think like a winner then you won’t act like one—Christian or not.

Even though this is strictly a work for the Christian audience I think people who are not necessarily Christian but perhaps religiously curious will find enjoyment and encouragement in this book because of the way the author ties everything into everyday situations. He talks about our society and how that can affect out thinking and our behavior, all the negativity we are fed from the television whether it’s the news or reality TV. He even discusses what we cannot control.

“A good person can be transformed by an unexpected event…” I think that’s something that can be said about everyone, whether they are religious or not. So many people who aren’t familiar with the Christian faith have a high standard for our behavior but many forget that we are human too. Even though we are Christian, we still sin and we are still susceptible to fall into darkness. Bringing this fact to life in this book was a plus for me because it makes me feel better when I mess up.

This book breaks down a lot of our problems, issues faced by people of every walk of life; Christian, unsaved, gay, straight, male, female, black, white, etc. It really presents the Christian person as a human being no different from anyone else, and it shows us how we can elevate ourselves in the Faith. It’s a great, encouraging read I would recommend to many followers of Christ.

My only complaint with this book is that the format is a little odd, there aren’t exactly ‘chapters’ but rather sections. Maybe that’s a thing for non-fiction? Also, at times it feels like English is not the author’s first language. A simple proofread from another friend or editor would have earned one more star but I think 4 out of 5 isn’t half bad at all. ...more

I think there is nothing like insight and faith in ensuring Spiritual victory. That is what the author attempt to emphasize. Our victory is our thinking, knowledge, attitude and faith, ultimately in Christ Jesus
