Un mélange entre le monde de Harry Potter et de Percy Jackson (oui oui) mais qui arrive tout de même à se démarquer.

Le début est un peu long car j'attendais l'arriver d'un personnage avec impatience. Chose faite, j'ai dévoré le roman. L'écriture de Rainbow Rowell est si simple, fluide et efficace. L'intrigue à ma grande surprise était bien menée et prenante. Même si il y avait quelques passages assez inutiles parfois. J'ai dévoré ce livre ! Depuis que j'ai lu Fangirl je n'attendait que de pouvoir lire cette fameuse histoire !
Elle est absolument géniale ! Bien qu'on arrive à la dernière année des protagonistes, l'univers est très bien présenté et au final, ça n'est pas du tout dérangeant d'arriver au milieu de l'histoire de Simon (j'avais un peu peur de ça)
L'intrigue est très bien ficelée même si je m'attendais un petit peu à la fin, par rapport à certains thèmes. Et bien sûr, la relation de Simon & Baz est ...more

re-read it before starting wayward son, cause i completely forgot the story apart from the fact that i loved it.
well, i still do love it. so much. i think this book is brilliant, funny, cute, and everything jk rowling never gave us in the hp saga.

This review is more like "not my cup" type... I didn't exactly hate this book, but i didn't like it either. Please, don't hate me for this.

When i first read fangirl, i absolutely loved the Carry on, Simon parts that Cath was writing. And when i heard Rainbow Rowell was planning to write an entire book about Simon & Baz i was really excited!
I think my expectations were too high. I was expecting to love this book and what a disappointment it was.

I think my expectations were too high. I was expecting to love this book and what a disappointment it was.

The beginning of the story drags, and drags and nothing barely happens. The plot is doll and aimless, it's the weakest part of the novel in my opinion.
I absolutely hated Agatha, she was SO irritating. I wanted to throw her out of the window the whole time. She is totally useless, adds nothing to the story and spends her time being like "i didn't sign up for this". I do like this kind of characters but she is so flat. I couldn't care less about what was happening to her and i skipped most of her POV parts.
I really liked Baz though (obviously). He was fun and interesting. His POV was my favorite part of the book and that's why i think Carry on gets better when he comes back.
I forgot to tell you how smart and funny the dialogues were. That's not a surprise though, classic from Rowell.

I really wanted to put 2 stars. But the dialogue and the romance made me change my mind. Again, the book isn't bad. I just was expecting better. Perhaps i'd have liked it better if i didn't know what the story was about. I don't know.
I rate the book 3 stars only because it was still funny and it's an easy read.
I still don't get the hype.

I have some questions though (spoilers ahead)
I don't understand why the Mage kidnapped Ebb (did i miss the part where the reason is explained?)
Lucy's part add absolutely nothing to the story. And i don't understand why Agatha is kind of "obsessed" with her. Because she flew away? And kind of quit the magical world?
Simon never learned who his parents were. I think it's sad. Why??
AND why someone who doesn't have any magic in him is still stuck with EFFING wings and a tail???

Rowell is brillant as a contemporary author.

Autant les parties fanfiction dans Fangirl ne m'intéressaient pas et je n'en ai paslu beaucoup, autant Carry On m'a vraiment ravi de bout en bout. Oui il y a des choses qui ne vont pas, beaucoup de choses qui ne sont pas assez approfondies ou qui se passent trop vite. Pourtant je suis rentrée dans l'histoire en moins de deux et j'ai adoré l'interraction entre les personnages. What a cute story!
I got suck in the story quicker than I expected. It was a great thing that I did not have any expectations despite the hype of this book. It was lovely to read and the characters were wonderful. Easy but complex, flawed to a realistic point.

This was great. Epic. A very dense story with amazing, tortured characters you just fall in love with. The magical system was extraordinary, and I really enjoyed it.
For a first try at fantasy, it was a success. Well done miss Rowell !
