What an absolutly fantastic book. Since I have a secret lust for House, this book worked like a charm. The whole Beauty and the Beast rout is one of my favs and I thought that EJ did an awesome job with the storyline. I won't go into huge detail as this has already got some great reviews behind it. I will say I liked Linnet and Piers as a couple and their interaction had me laughing outload more than once. Even the side players in the book were fun. FUN read! ...more

Miss Linnet Thrynne is a great beauty but when she is given the cut direct from the ton and her charming prince suitor due to her gown, which makes her look pregnant, she knows she needs to leave as no one will believe the truth. She hears of the Duke of Windebank who is infatuated with royal bloodlines and needs an heir as his son, the current Earl of Marchant, Piers, is impotent. He gladly accepts Linnets fathers arrangement of a marriage between Linnet and Piers as the Duke is more than happy Miss Linnet Thrynne is a great beauty but when she is given the cut direct from the ton and her charming prince suitor due to her gown, which makes her look pregnant, she knows she needs to leave as no one will believe the truth. Of course there is no baby but Linnet decides to travel and try for the best with this new arrangement and just claim she lost the baby. But then she meets Piers.

Piers, a doctor, knows instantly that Linnet is not pregnant and tells her he refuses to marry her (due to a very strained relationship with his father) and he will not fall prey to her great beauty and charms. Piers is rude, arrogant, snaps at everyone and you are put off by him right away. But not Linnit. She is sassy and snappy and keeps right up with Piers sarcasm. She slowly begins to make her presence known in the castle by helping care for the feelings of his patients and making Piers realize that is more to caring for patients than just curing them of whatever ails them.

Watching these two fall in love was so much fun. Piers has his tough exterior but he has no problem falling deeply in love with Linnet but of course, lets her go when an epidemic breaks out with some very harsh words. Linnit has already professed her love to him at this point and leaves brokenhearted. When he finally realizes he loves her, with a bit of help from his slowly mending relationship with his father, it is almost too late and there is a bit more of a twist to the Beauty and the Beast theme. I did think the ending wasn't the best for this story. I understand the twist but I thought Linnit started acting stupid and then things were resolved a bit too quickly. The epilogue helped wrap up this happily ever after fairy tale but I wanted just a bit more. I can not wait for the next story! 4 stars

I loved the banter in this BEAUTY AND BEAST themed story...

Laughed out loud a couple of times!

I can really see HOUSE in Piers...he's a brilliant doctor, but abrupt and rude.

Linnet is sweet and doesn't really flaunt the power in her smile. Her beauty is just there...until she thinks she might lose it, and then she finds out what really does count. Just as Piers does...

I really was sad that the Prince in London, Linnet's father, and the HIDEOUS INNKEEPERS never really got what was coming to them. ...more

The classic tale of Beauty and the Beast…you would think it’s hard to improve upon but James did!

I am a sucker for any fairy tale retelling, and so was still expecting this to be just another typical historical romance. The two main characters are what you expect, a stunningly beautiful young woman and a darkly handsome crippled man who is said to have a beastly personality. When Beauty Tamed the Beast, a novela based on the classics by Gabriella Villeneuve's Beauty and the Beast. Its tells a story of how a Beauty, like Miss Linnet Thrynne falls in love with a Beast; Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant. It tells a story of how their love grew from infuriating each other to the bones and the sexual tension that floats in the air between them.

I really really really enjoyed this book, it made me laugh, made my eyes go wide, made me gasp, and made me tear up a little bit towards the end.

Linnet is a great character, very strong and confident in whatever she does. That's probably because her beauty gave her most of the confidence she needed. She knew what she wanted and she would get what she wanted. She was determined to gain Pier's love and finally make him commit into marrying her.

Piers is a sarcastic arrogant bastard. But a sexy one at that. I expected the beast to just be extremely rude with anger management problems, that he is but what else came with that temper and rude mouth was something I didn't expect. He was a cripple, but was a strong determined one I could say that. This had a great impact on the entire storyline.

Every romantic story starts out so well, and it gets even better in the middle, but there always seems to be something bad that will happen towards the near conclusion of the book that gives the reader a great bang and relief when they finish the book.

There is always a point whenever I would pick up books like these, when I would fall asleep reading and when I wake up the next morning, it is the first thing I think about and can't fight the urge to pick it up and continue where I left off.

In conclusion, this book got me sitting on my bed for more than an hour, just reading and doing nothing else, which I've missed for so long. This is a great book that I definitely think anyone with a great interest in romance with a small bit of humor in it.

If you enjoy reading your favorite fairly tales but want something a little bit more, than I completely recommend this fairy tale series. ...more

This book was highly amusing. I liked how the characters kept themselves going despite the many bad situations that got thrown their way. Piers, our dashing hero, is kind of a butthead, but understandibly so. I like all the background given on his medical knowledge. The intrepid heroine Linnet is a bit too perfect for my tastes, but I liked her more in the end after she suffers a bit (no spoilers). Overall, good fluff read, but a bit unbelievable.
