The love I have for Anne Of Green Gables can not be summed up in a review. I have adored this story since first watching the 1985 film version starring Megan Follows as Anne Shirley.

I suppose, had I discovered this story as a child of 8 or 9, I would have found Anne endearing. But, I did not and I don’t. Fantasy is not my favorite style of book. With its ideal portrayal of childhood, nature, small town life and family, this has only the vaguest connection with realism. On a technical level, the book is well crafted. Did a reread by audiobook for toddler's bedtime, and enjoyed Anne's antics all over again. I couldn't help but picture every corresponding scene from the Megan Follows version, although I'd forgotten how very different the order of events is in some places. The books and movies both are still very endearing.
