This was the fifth time I've read this book, and it doesn't get less terrifying. Atwood is an absolute master, and her vision of a future oppressive patriarchal society feels eerily like the future we are carving for ourselves. One of the great works of contemporary literature.

Excellent, dystopian story told from one woman's perspective, about a society where normal things from the past are a distant memory, and women have to live a cloistered, servant's life, stripped of all the meaningful things (and people) she remembers. Besides having an awesome feminist undercurrent, it raises some important questions about the things in our lives that we take for granted.

Terrifying and all too real
