Twenty years ago, Frank Carter, AKA The Whisper Man had abducted and killed five young boys. Only four of their bodies were ever found. The person responsible for the horrendous acts as captured and has been in prison ever since.
Now, another young boy has been abducted. Is it a copycat of someone who helped Frank Carter all those years ago?

Tom Kennedy and his young son, Jake move to the new village of Featherbank to make a fresh start after the passing of his wife. Soon after their move, Jake st

One of my favorite thrillers I read this year! I’m so grateful to NetGalley and Celadon Books for my copy because I loved this one. What really stood out for me and made me love this so much is the relationship between Tom and his son, Jake. Many thrillers are simply unreliable narrators filled with one twist after another without much in the way of character development. This book is different. It’s a story of fathers and sons within an eerie, creepy mystery about a serial killer that terrorize ...more

There's something creepy about whispers, isn't there? Maybe it's because I was young when The Sixth Sense came out and I'm always gonna hear that creepy "I see dead people." in my ear. The Whisper Man, as it turns out, was just as creepy. There were a couple of times that I had to look away from this novel because it had so thoroughly creeped me out.
Other than being creepy, The Whisper Man turned out to be quite a bit about family, specifically about the family of Tom and Jake Kennedy, a father

“A child was missing, which meant that a child needed to be found.”

There are two storylines in this book and it is fascinating to watch them converge. Over the entire story there is a sense of menace that emerges right from the very beginning. A serial child killer, a troubled cop, a grieving dad, a secretive boy, mysterious voices, and a scary house. If these sound enticing then I highly recommend The Whisper Man. It may be one best read in the full light of day but go ahead and take the scare

If this is a debut novel, then I can’t wait to see where the author goes from here.* A fantastically well-organized crime thriller - the story, pacing, characters, and dialogue are all drawn with such exquisite care to give you that creeping feeling of dread which makes you afraid to turn the pages and simultaneously unable to put down the book. And the writing simply wowed me. The descriptions of a recovering alcoholic’s inner mind struggles were particularly astute, and made me lean more towar ...more

“If you leave a door half open, soon you’ll hear the whispers spoken.
If you play outside alone, soon you won’t be going home.
If your windows left unlatched, you’ll hear him tapping at the glass.
If you’re lonely, sad, and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you.”
― Alex North, The Whisper Man

This was one of my top thrillers for 2019 so far! It is engaging, dark, a little eerie and had me turning pages as fast as I could read. Not often do I stay up late at night reading a thriller but this one

3.5 stars

I will say that the entire premise of the story had me from the very start. A serial killer, named the Whisper Man, lured children by whispering to them at their windows at night. The killer is in jail, so why is a boy lured and abducted... and why does Jake hear whispering at his window?

This one had a definite creepy factor.... especially with Tom's son, Jake. It felt a little like The Sixth Sense, in parts. I don't want to give anything away, but he has a pretend friend that is, for s

4.5 stars. Anything Celadon comes out with is gold this year. This was the perfect level of spooky and mystery- I truly did get goosebumps reading this book. The plot was good: and not overly predictable, but not totally outlandish. I thought the pacing was great, and the supernatural touches were perfectly integrated. I really did love this one, and I'm excited to read more from this author and publisher. ...more
