There are certain things that I feel make a good crime boss story. I want the MC to be ruthless, have some anger issues, not shy away from violence, have a thirst for revenge and be able to protect what is his. Dorian fit the bill. I was worried that the author, as many authors do, make the criminal soft after he finds love. Granted that Dorian softened a little, in regards to Jansen, but he still took care of business, with a baseball bat, when he needed too. I loved it! Don't judge me :)

I had previously read some of the story about what happens to Jason (a minor supporting character in this story), so I was very eager to read about how Jansen and Dorian got their start. These two are both mentally screwed up (with good reason), but they kinda end up helping each other out and being what the other needs. Okay, you've seen those memes on Facebook that say "started out to read only a chapter or two, ended up reading the whole thing at 4 in the morning"? Well, that's what happened with this book. I couldn't put it down. I had been priveldged to a sneak peek at some of the chapters and I was mesmerized at how it all came together.

Now, this wouldn't be one of MY reviews without some of the nit-picky stuff.

I couldn't put it down. I had been priveldged to a sneak peek at some of the chapters and I was mesmerized at how it all came together.

Now, this wouldn't be one of MY reviews without some of the nit-picky stuff.

First, there are two characters, Jansen and Jason. Jansen is a main character and Jason is a minor one. They are roommates. They have a few scenes together and because of the similiarities of their names, I had trouble with those scenes. It slowed down my reading and I actually had to go back a couple of times and re-read to figure out who said what. I personally would have picked a different name for the roommate. But what do I know? I had the same trouble with Sauron and Saruman in the 'Lord of the Rings'. Ms. Cassatta is in great company with Mr. Tolkein in that respect.

Secondly, I think some more research is needed for the medical issues. She had poor Dorian in casts for months. Broken bones typically need just 6-8 weeks in a cast unless there is a bone disease (which I doubt Dorian has). I do believe if she had replaced the word 'weeks' for 'months' it would have been more medically correct.

Thirdly, because she had Jansen with Dorian for months and I don't think he was working much, I was wondering how Jason was making the rent. It seemed Jason was around just long enough to push the plot along, but he and his life weren't realistic for a struggling dancer.

So, enough of the nit-picky. What kept me reading was the way she kept the two main characters true. Dorian is a hard-ass and he never lost that. He didn't 'change' his root personality; he did, however, learn to tap into that part of him he had buried.

Jansen has his own dreams and his own way of doing things. He never lost his dreams, but he did learn to compromise for the man he loved.

In the end, they both learned to love each other, but I don't think I'd call it a typical HEA. It's more realistic, more gritty, more life-like. It's NOT going to be a happily ever after, it's going to be a real-life ever after where I'm sure these two are still going to yell, and get angry, still have resentments, but still love each other.

It's my understanding the author is publishing a sequel. I'm sure this is going to be as excellent as 'Sin & Seduction.' ...more

I love antagonistic characters. I guess they do what I would like to do in real life, so I find an endearing quality in them.

Shattered Jansen seemed like a shattered "victim" that goes between persona's from diva-type gold digger to emotional wreck from his path in life.

Dorian is a hard ass "mob" type guy that handles business in an exciting way...I have a taste for all things mob, so this made him more lovable to me.

Loved! I am a huge fan of everything Allison writes. Just like all her other books before this one, it didn't disappoint. You can't help but get pulled into the story from the first page. Although, so many times I wanted to grab Jansen and shake him, tell him to get a grip because he'd fallen for Dorian straight away but hell, I think I fell for him too lol! It's a definitely must read. And I can't wait to read Lies & Seduction. ...more

Sin and Seduction is love where you'd least expect it.. As someone who'd never read a gay romance novel before, I was going into this not knowing exactly where it would lead me..
