Oh Hugo award winners, how I struggle to understand you.
This isn’t bad, it is conceptional interesting, but there really isn’t anything there. This is an exceptionally short story less than 200 pages. And it takes forever to set up and then rushes to conclude.
The premise is that there are many people in our world who vanish to another fantasy/mythical world. (Think Alice and Wonderland or Narnia) Some of them end up being sent back to our world for various reasons and they are struggling to adjus ...more

A quaint novella featuring a murder mystery whodunit set at a boarding school for children who struggle to adapt to "reality" after traveling to, and finding belonging in, other realms. The premise is captivating, the execution concise, and leaves an impression on the reader afterward.

5 stars. I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing except the appearance of portals to other worlds was present. The wittiness, mystery, Wednesday Addams vibes were all a pleasant surprise. The writing was beautiful and the characters were ones I’ll never forget. I also love anything to do with other worlds! For such a short book, the world and character development was amazing.
