I would suggest The Hunger Games, by Suzane Collins to anyone. It is especially good for the kind o readers who like to be on the edge of their seat for each chapter. This novel shows a distant future in which kids from 12 different districts have to fight each other each year at the Hunger Games. The main character, Katniss Everdeen takes her sisters place in the Hunger Games in order to save her sister from an assumed death in the games. This novel shows a distant future in which kids from 12 different districts have to fight each other each year at the Hunger Games. The main character, Katniss Everdeen takes her sisters place in the Hunger Games in order to save her sister from an assumed death in the games. If Katniss wins the Hunger Games, she will obtain many riches in oder to support her family and save the from starvation. The story shows Katniss' desperate struggle for survival in the games. It gave me an example of how determination is the most important asset to survival.

My favorite part of this novel is how it showed Katniss' thoughts as she was trying to survive in the games. I loved this because it brought a very realistic tone to the story. All of these unthinkable things are happening while Katniss is still a very believable person. Also, due to Katniss' thoughts during the novel, I learned a lot more than I thought I would about survival. She would be going through what could be considered a mental checklist. She always made sure she had enough food and water. I found this very interesting because people today in our society have no reason to worry about such things as starvation. It also makes me sympathize the people who go through this daily in places like Africa.

The one thing I disliked about this novel is how long it took to drag me into the story. It started very slowly talking about why there was a Hunger Games and explaining Katniss' background. Although, in the long run it makes the book more interesting because Katniss is constantly referring back to her past throughout the story, and sometimes having different opinions about it. Overall, this book is a quick read once you get into it.

People who like suspense and surprises in a book, Hunger Games is full of them. However, I found that the deep theme in this book is determination. You can accomplish anything if you set your mind to it. And as Humans, we can aplly this into our daily lives in any aspect.
