FREAKING MAN EATING SPIDERS! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Although, they would make a great aide in the prisons where the pedophiles and what not are, but I digress.
These are an ancient form of spiders from like 10,000 years ago. Someone somewhere did some digging or something and here we have these spiders hatching. I'm not quite sure because they started coming out in all parts of the world and it didn't mention any kind of ancient mining ...more

Very slow start setting up a bunch of characters and their backstories. And a lot of (pointless if you ask me) who is fucking who...in the spiderpocalypse....ok then. But about 100 pages in it does starting picking up and has a few "Fuck Fuck FUUUUCK" moments.
I was bored through the beginning, but then once it started picking up (and I started being able to mostly remember who was who) I did come to like it. It's not really terrifying to start with (coming from someone who shrieks when he ...more

How is it that something as small as a spider can induce such feelings of fear and horror in most people? Well, if you read a few books like this one, you can certainly see how those feelings can be magnified! In particular in this book, I liked the science parts. There weren't a lot, but it was still interesting.
I waffled between 3 and 4 stars for this. Felt like a 3.5 star for me. It was just what I expected it to be, and it was fun. I did feel like this was a lot of buildup, so I'm hoping th ...more

Many of my friends wondered why I read this book. I have an irrational fear of spiders. Even the teeniest ones creep me out.
So, while reading The Hatching, and all the way to the end, I swear I felt something tickling the hairs on my arms, tiptoeing up the nape of my neck, and parting the hairs on my head.
A creepy crawly tale of spiders and how humanity panics and does it’s darnedest to destroy itself while trying to stop the onslaught of spiders.

I bloody love this book!! Spiders don't really bother me that much, unless they're the really friendly ones that like to jump on you to say hello and then you have a mini heart attack.
I have two sneaky ones in my bathroom at the moment, one is just chilling in the corner but the other one looks shifty and stares at me when I'm in there, anywho.

The world is on the brink of an apocalyptic disaster. An ancient species, long dormant, is now very much awake.
Killer spiders! This book was filled with lots of tense, crazy action. The book jumps around from different characters from all over the world, getting to see different perspectives on what is going on as it all happens in the same time span. Normally I'm not a fan of books with too many characters and too many locations because it gets too cluttered and convoluted, but I thought this a ...more

What feels like forever ago, I found a copy of the second book in this series for sale, and not knowing it was the second book, I bought it. That meant I had to track down the first book once I realized, and finally that day has come! I am glad I finally got the chance to read this, because it was everything I was expecting and more. The slow build up was at first confusing, but as the threads all started coming together I realized I was getting more and more invested in the myriad of characters
