Maybe whoever, or whatever, is running the show isn’t so nice. Maybe he’s evil, or mad, or bored, disinterested. Maybe we’ve got everything completely wrong, everything, and if we could look through the mask, what we’d see would destroy us.

When I first picked up The Fisherman I thought I was beginning a creature feature, or at least a standard horror. What I found was a Lovecraftian inspired cosmic experience.

Before I started this book I heard it dealt with a couple of widowed guys and I recently (less than 3 months ago) lost my husband. He was 41, I had just turned 32 (less than a week before he died) so to be honest I fully prepared to be jealous, assuming it'd be older guys that had had decades with their spouses, but I was wrong. I really enjoyed this book, it is a must-read. It was the kind of supernatural story I like. It reminded me of The Black Water Saga: The Complete Caskey Family Saga by Michael McDowell which was an awesome read.
