A fantastic follow-up to The Passage, this is probably the best middle-book-of-trilogy I have read. Cronin's amazing writing skills elevate this series above most others in the genre. If you liked The Passage then this is a must-read. Very highly recommended.

This read was slightly better than the first. Cronin has great characterization skills, just too many of them in one book which bog the steady pace of his writing down. A good solid read.

So far this series has been a great read. I love post apocalyptic books a lot. And I am glad that I discovered this series. This book seemed a bit slower than The Passage, as in being somewhat wordy in some places, but there was still plenty enough to it to keep me turning the pages.

Another strong entry in Justin Cronin's vampire-apocalypse series. This is a "sequel," but much of it also fleshes out things that happened in the early days of the crisis. I was impressed with how Cronin brought back characters from early on and made them integral parts of the the present day's events. It was a little hard remembering who was who, so I would recommend reading these books back-to-back if you can. But all-in-all, I found myself very engaged and even, at times, enjoying this more
