What Members Thought
a counterpoint to hillbilly elegy & the stereotypical image of the region as poor backwards primitive ignorant inbred & homogeneously white. it highlights the religion's many aspects if diversity. there are progressives in the hills. the strong history of labor struggles & interracial solidarity & plenty of good, decent people doing everything they can to do the right thing, just like in most every region & community you could name. the stereotype is classist propaganda.
