2018 reread:
I still really enjoy this, and I feel like this readalong is good for me since it basically amounts to about 5 chapters a week. These stories are better for me in small doses, so I don't get burnt out. Still, it felt like it was dragging on at times...I think maybe I've just reread it too many times in too short a time? Still love the characters and sense of humor though!

The audiobook read by Andy Serkis was honestly one of the best audiobook experiences I've ever had. I was apprehensive about the whole book narrated by Gollum but of course he wasn't like that, and it was perfect. Tolkien was such a genius and I love the humor, coziness, and adventure. I have read this book 4-5 times at least, but this time I appreciated it more than ever before. ...more

Loved it! The humor, the adventure, the story, everything. It had been several years since I last read it, and I had forgotten about quite a few of the details of the story. Like...(view spoiler) I'm even more excited for the film now, and slightly less nervous about the film being made into a trilogy. :)
