Haupt changed the way I look at suburbia, where most of us reside. Few books I've read have changed my perception of the world around me, at least perceptively. It is us that has encroached upon the land, and so to be upset by a fox or coon aiming for our chickens is to not recognize where we live. That doesn't make it any easier.
