Good book - interesting characters and fascinating plot. A brother and sister who live a strange childhood, built around the home their father bought which was full of the possessions of the family who lived there previously - down to their clothes. Their lives are intertwined throughout adulthood, with the Dutch house always as a character. I enjoyed the book - Ann Patchett rarely disappoints.

I highly recommend this book, but I recommend this book on audio as the narrator is Tom Hanks and he is wonderful. He made me feel as though I knew each character and didn't want the book to end. The story line smoothly takes us across the decades loving and disliking the characters, the story line and the events which are surprising at times and then Ann Pratchett wraps it up so perfectly as though it's a beautifully wrapped gift. I really enjoyed this book.
