I took me a few times and a little while to get into this story. At times the writer introduces a lot of new characters and explains everything about them and I mean everything and then some. Which at times is excessive in my opinion. All those characters come clear during the story though. However, I cherished the story, I liked it. I'm trying to be more critical with my reading but this just has to be a 5 star. I can see why it is so beloved by so many. Scout is a wonderful protagonist, the plot is simple yet engaging and it paints such a clear picture of a southern American rural community in the depression era that you really feel like you could have been there.

I had heard of this book many times and I did watch the movie when I was a teenager. I enjoyed the story and the fact it was narrated by a kid, Scout. I enjoyed the relationship between her father and her. The story of the town was also interesting. The trial clearly shows you how bad human nature can be. Definitely a classic, worth of reading.

i remember reading this book in high school and although it wasn't nearly as cryptic as some other books i was read i don't think i fully appreciated it back then. as a kid when you are forced to read books for school it seems more like a chore than pleasure. as an adult you have a lot more world experience and a better understanding of everything happening so i definitely thought it was more interesting reading it now many years later.
