this was my first read by this author and a book club pick. it seems to be really popular so i was a lil leery going in because a lot of times when books are really hyped up i am in a minority of not being impressed with them. luckily this was not the case with this book. it is historical fiction but based on a real midwife who delivered many babies successfully. a big part of the book is about personal accounts of her life through her diary. there is also a whodunit murder situation when a body
