I had not read Kate Atkinson before (where have I been?), though I felt an instant affinity with her because she likes parenthetical asides as I do (see first clause). Big Sky (title has nothing to do with anything) is a character-rich, thrilling and funny mystery featuring Jackson Brodie. It took about 35% of the book before I got hooked. This is a deeply troubling story about trafficking young immigrant girls. It’s also another Jackson Brodie novel after a gap of almost a decade. It’s worth the wait, though I luckily started the series so late I didn’t have to wait at all.
