Having never seen the film (which isn't unusual for me), I formed my own picture of Holly Golightly, and I really liked her. I loved her abandon, her need for freedom and self-awareness. There is no doubt that the opposing theme of desiring stability also permeates the story, but it results in a really interesting conflict. I found the story left me with a smile.

Ok, so this story is like one of the original fairy tales. I'm talking the older, dark ones. At first, I didn't like the character, Holly Golightly. I felt she was brash and a little too forward and I didn't like how she manipulated men to get what she wanted. I really admired this novella. Not for the plot or setting or dialogue (although I really loved the dialogue too), but for the characterization. Capote has created such a stunningly unique, interesting and vivid character. There are so many facets to her that your opinion is constantly changing. Nevertheless, you'll want to know Holly Golightly, you'll want to learn more about her. She is just that riveting.

I have always loved this movie, but had never gotten around to reading to book. Capote's writing is both more uplifting and at the same time sadder than the movie version was. It was a quick little read.

A wonderful book with some fantastic characters. It was very interesting the way the characters presented themselves and saw each other.
The short stories at the end were also very good.
