Having never seen the film (which isn't unusual for me), I formed my own picture of Holly Golightly, and I really liked her. I loved her abandon, her need for freedom and self-awareness. There is no doubt that the opposing theme of desiring stability also permeates the story, but it results in a really interesting conflict. I found the story left me with a smile.

I actually also really enjoyed the other three stories which were in the copy that I read. Capote explores themes of love, sexuality, a

Ok, so this story is like one of the original fairy tales. I'm talking the older, dark ones. The endings of those tales may not always be puppies and rainbows, but they have a certain rightness to them because they flow from the consequences of the story. The movie Breakfast at Tiffany's was like the Disney-fied version of the tale. It had all the recognizable elements so you could say it was the same story, but many of the less pleasant aspects were blotted out or changed. Though it seems wrong ...more

At first, I didn't like the character, Holly Golightly. I felt she was brash and a little too forward and I didn't like how she manipulated men to get what she wanted. But then as I read more and learned a little bit about her rough childhood, it became clearer why she was the way she was. It's not that I felt sorry for her but I think I understood her better. I enjoyed this book and now I can't wait to see the movie. I've had the movie in my possession for a while but I put off watching it unti ...more

I enjoyed the book, but I think I felt more sorry for Holly Golightly than I did when I watched the movie. She seemed to be more of a darker character than I remembered from the movie. I guess this means I will be watching the movie again so that I can compare and contrast.

I really admired this novella. Not for the plot or setting or dialogue (although I really loved the dialogue too), but for the characterization. Capote has created such a stunningly unique, interesting and vivid character. There are so many facets to her that your opinion is constantly changing. Nevertheless, you'll want to know Holly Golightly, you'll want to learn more about her. She is just that riveting.

I have always loved this movie, but had never gotten around to reading to book. Capote's writing is both more uplifting and at the same time sadder than the movie version was. It was a quick little read. ...more

A wonderful book with some fantastic characters. It was very interesting the way the characters presented themselves and saw each other.
The short stories at the end were also very good.
