This is a book that you like as it is written very well, and it is fascinating but you also hate it because the events are horrifying. I almost threw my copy, I wanted to trow it at the wall out of anger. Not because Margaret Atwood wrote a bad novel but because she wrote a believable novel, and that's scary. As a woman the idea of living this is terrifying and sickening. I applaud Ms. Atwood for being able to make me feel and picture this world so clearly. This is my second novel by this author

While I can appreciate Margaret Atwood's skill and writing style, I found this book unpleasant to read. I really didn't enjoy being in the world she created. I know Atwood didn't intend to create a "pleasant" world, and she definitely succeeded. And while I appreciate her writing style, I also didn't enjoy it. Not knowing much in the beginning is okay, but that isn't okay at the end. I'm not saying others shouldn't read this. This is a dystopic novel that will make you think. But it is also dist

I think one way to define a good book is one that makes you think after you've finished it, and this book definitely qualifies. Some of the worlds that Margaret Atwood creates seem so off the wall, and at first glance you can cast it off as something that could never happen. However, with the state of womens' rights around the world and the various fanatical groups, and scary to wonder if something could happen the way she explains.

I've read this book and watched the movie several times. I think it's amazing and haunting. Something that has stayed with me long after I closed the cover or watched the credits roll. It walks through my thoughts at odd times.

so many good reviews for this book but i just didn't like it. i didn't even finish it. maybe i was too young? i'm willing to give this book another go.
