This was a surprisingly good story. The writing style was definitely hard to get used to. But the story was very good. Dickens obviously had something to say about the revolution when he wrote this story. The story was about how a family is impacted by the revolution in France. Charles Darney who is married to Lucie, is taken prisoner in France. He is a relative of an aristocrat and since the revolution is centered on revenge for those that “oppressed”, Charles is arrested. I read this in 9th grade English. I really should give the book more stars because I like it much more now, in retrospect, than I liked it at the time. I remember not being up to date on the assigned reading and having a quiz and I would answer that everything foreshadowed teh storming of the Bastille (of course once that happened I had no more safe, go to answers!) Some day when I'm old and rich and I have tons of time I'm going to re-read all these books and see what I really think of them now
