I admire this work for the complex plot. It's unique and inventive. I did have trouble keeping interest in all the strategy and tactics however.

I enjoyed this, especially the characters of Joel, Melody, and Professor Fitch. And the premise is a novel one: battles are fought with lines on paper and by chalklings - chalk drawings that can come to life and attack in the real world. Themes of loyalty, courage, perseverance, and standing up to bullying are all woven into the story. Not a great book, but an enjoyable one.
Love this book and I cannot wait until the sequel comes out. Sanderson is amazing, no matter what age group he is writing to.
