Oh Mr. Green you are quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.
I loved these characters, I became attached to them. I love Issac, I love Augustus, I loved what Hazel and him had. I love that it ended how I hoped it would. It was the right way to do it. As I was reading had a feeling how things were going to turn out, and when those things did happen. I bawled. I cried many times reading this book, but laughed much more.

God, this book wrecked me. It was sad and sweet and funny all at once. Despite it being about two teenagers with cancer it does a great job at avoiding the Nicholas Sparks-like cliches and cheesiness. Things don't work out perfectly for any of the characters in the book. The characters seem like real (okay, maybe a bit more mature than usual) teens, not teens who have achieved some higher level of being because they have cancer.

Well, it's been a long time since I've loved book characters quite so much. It's kind of a shame that this is a young adult book, because the insight into life and lessons on empathy and "different-ness" that this boo shows are very meaningful (and needed) for those of us raising children (healthy or otherwise). I would have loved to know Hazel and Gus, and though they don't act like "normal" teenagers I believe they can show how someone's personality is shaped so differently when they grow up b

Read this entire book in a night, couldn't put it down. Hesitated to pick it up at first, due to the fact that I knew it was going to be about cancer and a child. I loved the perspective that the book was written. I could sympathize with the main character having such strong ties and wonder to the characters in her favorite book. Her limited/forced social interactions after being pulled from school by her parents due to her illness, would easily cause such strong feelings/ties with the character

I did not really know what this book was about, just that the was a lot of hype and a recent movie. I found the book relatively predictable, bit still rather enjoyable. The parents of the narrator came through as fully credible characters, something not always well done in young adult books.
The book toys with emotions in a pretty serious way, but since it only took me two days to read, I'm willing to forgive this. I think this would be a really helpful book for a teen who had a friend diagnosed ...more
