I was blown away with Ubik. It was my first time to read Philip K. Dick and I have to thank the book club for introducing me to the writing of this brilliant author.

Reading this book was like being stuck in a dream you wish you could get out of: you know things aren't making sense, but every time you think you might have something figured out, everything gets turned on its head again. The GR write-up describes it as a "searing metaphysical comedy of death and salvation" and "a tour de force of panoramic menace and unfettered slapstick." Maybe that explains part of my reaction. I never have enjoyed slapstick.
