Have no desire whatsoever to find out how this series ends. Given that the first book was just average for me, I see no reason to continue reading this.

Marissa Meyer's debut, Cinder , made my list of faves in 2011, so of course I was really looking forward to the second book in the Lunar Chronicles series, Scarlet - especially 'cause LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD ZOMG!
Ahem. Excuse me.
LRRH is one of my favorite tales for a number of reasons - not least of which is because of how really fricken disturbing it is - and I love to see what people make of it when they retell it. And though I think Cinder still has a (cyborg) leg up for sheer uniqueness,

This was just as good as the first one, which doesn't usually happen! I enjoyed having new characters, yet I was happy to have most of the characters from the first book show up as well. I look forward to reading the third in the series, Cress, right away! ...more

I really, really, really liked this! Scarlet and Wolf are great characters! Scarlet easily held her own and was very brave and resourceful. Wolf's more quiet and reserved character was a good match for her and I liked them together a lot. Their romance was very sweet. And Meyer very successfully and skillfully wove in all the elements of Little Red Riding Hood. We learn yet more about Cinder and her abilities and she continues to grow and get more intriguing as a character. We learn more about L ...more

The second book in the Lunar Chronicles series this time retelling Little Red Riding Hood. Scarlet lives on a farm in France with her grandmother who has disappeared. She meets a mysterious street fighter Wolf who might know where her grandmother is. Meanwhile Cinder is attempting a prison breakout with the help of Captain Thorne. The book alternates between the two stories. The book starts a bit slow but picks up at the end. I wish there had been a bit more development of Thorne's character. I' ...more
