This was a lot less cliched than some of Jodi Picoult's more recent offerings. There was a "story within a story" but other than that, no major gimmicks. The story sucked me but I didn't end up hating myself for it, all in all, I'd say a big improvement.

I had 18 pages left and was going to go to sleep. However, sleep is overrated and I decided to finish. There was something severely lacking from this recent Picoult book. It was, once again, a difficult subject. Picoult tackled it well, drew me in, but it lacked something. Where was that usual jaw-dropping twist? Where was that turn if events that made me gasp out loud? Missing, dammit!

This is not my favourite Jodi Picoult books. I found many of the characters difficult to like and I really disagreed with certain choices they made. This was a tough read for me and I usually breeze through Jodi Picoult books
This was just ok for me. Reading Minka's part about her life was the best part of the book. I didn't find Sage that compelling of a character and that killed a lot of the book for me. Still a good read though.
