When Neil Gaiman writes, magic flows. I can imagine him sitting at his writing desk and a golden glow, not unlike that in the book, surrounds the area. There are natural storytellers, and Gaiman is assuredly one of those. He creates a fantastical world that captivates you and holds you spellbound until the final page. The weaving of the story is seamless, and the characters are uniquely marvelous. I only wish that I had listened to the audio version of this book, as the author reads it, and I kn

I listened to this as an audiobook and was thrilled that it was read by Neil Gaiman himself. The story just took on such a wonderful magical note.
The story centres around a young boy and his family who have a tenant commit suicide in their family car down the street, which ends up setting off a series of horrible events. The boy meets Letti as he goes with his dad and the police to see the car. Letti lives in the farm house at the end of the lane and she is so very interesting and unique, that ...more

The tale captures wonderfully the fantasy of childhood monsters and fantasies. I wondered throughout whether we are supposed to believe this as a tale of a fantastical, but real, event or a memory of a fantasy made up in the mind of a seven-year-old. It worked for
