I saw a tv movie of this book starring Jon Voight and Michael Imperioli and absolutely loved it. This is one of those rare cases where the movie was better than the book. The fantasy aspect seemed to work better on the screen, and the film wasn't as preachy and saccharine as the book.

This book was on a shelf in an apartment we were staying in on holiday. I came to it with no preconceived ideas, and it was a gentle holiday read, more engaging than I expected. The premise of the book: a man dies, and in heaven he meets 5 people who explain his life to him. These people may not have known to him, but were significant nonetheless. He then takes his place as one of somebody else's 5 people. Thought provoking: is 5 enough? Who would be my 5?

This is the story of Eddie, an old man who maintains the rides on a boardwalk. After Eddie dies he meets a series of people up in Heaven, not necessarily the people he'd have hoped for like his wife or his mother, but people who had some significane in his life, even if he didn't realize it at the time. I cried and cried and cried during this book-definitely one to read at home!

This book was alright...I mainly read it because others said that it was really good and that I should...all in all it was ok but was not that great. The only things that I liked about it was that it shows how people are connected and do not even know it, and that certain things happen for a reason. I do tend to like things like that but other than that...not too thrilled.
i got swept through the hype... although I did enjoy reading the book.
I cried my eyes out while reading this book. But I loved it.
