I cried/laughed from the first page of this book to the last one, even in public. I think some people in the subway thought I was going through a manic depressive episode because sometimes I'd be laughing out loud while tears where running down my face.

This book touched me doubly because my husband lived some of the situations in this book. (view spoiler) Ove also reminds me of some of t

I wish I could give it more stars......

Truly a wonderful story that no matter genre you read you will love this.

I cried, ugly cried, I was moved so much. I laughed so much. It is now a favorite of mine and I will be going out to buy my own copy so I can relive Ove again and again.

If this book doesn't move you or you don't learn something or take away something from this book, then I am truly sorry for you.

I loved this. For so many reasons. This grumpy man could have easily been my dad. He was so loveable and so hateable. He had a heart of gold with one hell of a rough exterior. He had so much to be proud of yet didn’t see any of it. And he made me cry. A great start to my best reading year yet - 2018.

I totally love this book and wish Ove was my neighbor. Ove is a man living on his own after his wife's death. He comes off rather curmudgeonly at the beginning of the book but the gruff exterior is hiding a man who was absolutely devoted to his wife and to working hard and doing the right thing. This book had me alternately crying my eyes out and laughing heartily. Along with Ove I love his neighbors Parvaneh, her kids, Jimmy, Anita and Rune and the mangy cat who I would totally adopt. If you ha ...more

Heartwarming story about an archetypal grumpy old man who sees everything as black or white. His wife, described as the only colour in his life, has died after an accident and an illness, and Ove's only goal at the beginning is to commit suicide and join her. However, his endeavours keep getting interrupted by his neighbours and others who need his help and skills, and as time goes on he gradually admits that perhaps he doesn't have to join his wife right away as there are other things to do. An incredibly well-written, easy-to-read book! I am amazed by the translator. This book made me literally laugh out loud and then almost cry at moments. Can easily be devoured in a day. I took one-star off because I thought it was a little unrealistically saccharine and things fell into place a little too easily, but I would still highly recommend everyone picking up this little charmer of a book.

This book started so slowly for me that I couldn't figure out why it had become so popular. But as it unfolds and we get to know the grumpy Ove, it starts to feel a bit like a Disney movie: a little sappy, but heartwarming and inspiring. ...more
