Book 2 of the series, while I will admit that overall the story was as satisfying as the first, I will also mention that the author's ability to move forward from the first book to the second is flawed. A truly great author has a way of writing a multi-volume story that pulls just enough details from the previous books into the present that no reader is lost, but doesn't ever repeat so much that a loyal reader gets the feeling she is re-reading parts of earlier books. LOVED THIS. I would have finished it in one sitting if my eyes weren't closing against my will at 2am. :(
I was in absolute hysterics over many of the one-liners in this book. Rose and Adrian, in particular, are hilarious. I love that Rose can turn her snark on at a moment's notice. I was also in tears over a certain scene between Rose and her mother. This book brought out so many emotions, I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I started Shadow Kiss straight away, and it's taking all my ...more

Rose Hathaway has just managed to become a less reckless person. Soon she finds this tested by her gorgeous mentor Dimitri being loved by someone else, her friend having a worship-crush on her, and getting in the head of her best friend, Lissa, when she's making out with Christian in a way that shouldn't be viewed by young children. But what really takes the cake is when her absent, cold, legend-worthy Strigoi-killer comes to St. Vladmir's on account of a new attack of Moroi.

Mind candy. Delicious, delicious mind candy. I finished it in a day. I will say that I'm a bit disappointed that this book focuses so much more on men. One of the things I liked about Vampire Academy was that it was a young adult book that focused more on a female friendship than a heterosexual relationship. Still, I was already hooked so...I dug it.

Great holiday read. Also much better than the first in the series, which was barely believable at times. In this one the character development continues, and the plot is more exciting, the ending even more so.
Okay, I admit I am probably going to read the others in the series now.
Vampire books. Who would have thought?

I want the love this series, but for some reason I can't love it. I really like it though and found this installment to be fun and rather surprising... (view spoiler)
