I found this one extremely slow to get moving. The first 300 pages were so dull. The only reason I didn't toss it aside was that I want to follow the series.

The 2nd half was much better. Hamilton could have written a much better book if she'd just stuck to the last 300 pages. 596 pages is always unnecessary. I often think that the longer the book the poorer the writing - too much padding.

Wow....I don't even know where to begin this book was amazing! I was hooked right from the beginning when I found out it was all about Edward. Just what I had been waiting for.

Anita heads down to New Mexico, due to the fact that Edward called her in because of the favour she owed him for killing Harley. There has been a series of brutal murders, and Ted Forrester needs Anita's help to solve the crime. The entire Anita Blake series would be much better if 90% of the sex scenes were cut and instead the author focused on the plot (which is the actual interesting part). I'm still addicted anyway. ...more
