Shelves: lost-interest
I have to say John Grisham writes amazing legal thrillers...anything else not so great. I found this book to be a real yawn.

This is one of my favorites by John Grisham - even though it isn't his typical legal thriller. It's just the perfect Christmas story that showcases both the hassle of Christmas and the magic of it. I recently reread A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and am amazed at the similarities between the two. Someone should write a compare/contrast paper between the two books - focusing on Ebenezer Scrooge and Luther Krank both learning their lessons about what is truly important at the Christmas seaso ...more

Delightful! A nice Christmas read. My spouse and I skipped Christmas last year...and more successfully than Nora and Luther managed. However, we did enjoy it again this year. Yet I find myself wishing that my own neighborhood had a Vic. I would so love to know my neighbors and have a party and look out for each other like Luther's neighborhood did. ...more

This is so not Grisham, but I really liked it.
It's about a family who decides to forget X-mas this year because their daughter is out of the country and won't be celebrating X-mas with them.
Their neighbors totally harass and make fun of them. Nora and Luther try to ignore them and focus on the cruise they have decided to take instead of celebrating X-mas. When their plans suddenly change, the Cranks realize who their true friends are. This is a really funny book that shows the comic side of Gris

I enjoyed this book. My mom bought it for me maybe 3 yrs ago and I finally got around to reading it this past Christmas...I did see the movie before hand and did not really like it but per usual the book is better...I would say do not even bother w/ the movie...read the book instead...
