The Kingdom
4 Stars
The eerie atmosphere of the town, the mystery surrounding Amelia's connection to Asher falls and the revelations about a number of suspicious deaths all work together to make The Kingdom an enthralling read.
There are fewer descriptions of burial rituals, which is a little disappointing and John Devlin's character is sorely missed. Nevertheless, the varied cast of characters from the town patriarch and his enigmatic grandson to the stalkerish teenager and her ethereal friend ar ...more

The Kingdom was a great follow up to The Restorer, which was one of my top favorite books of 2011. I enjoyed the first book of the series so much that I was highly anticipating this one, and it did not disappoint. It had the same level of intensity and eerieness as the first book. I liked this one better than the previous novel in the series, The Restorer. I found the characters more realistic and I honestly preferred this love interest, he was so much more authentic and...interesting lol. And by interesting, I mean hot.

A good book, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first. This one got a little too ridiculous in parts. I don't expect reality in books about ghosts and witches and demons, but too much eyerolling can ruin the experience. I do like that we learned some of Amelia's background. And I am intrigued by the cliffhanger at the end.

This is the second in the series and it does not disappoint. Amelia Gray is a cemetery restorer called on by an anonymous benefactor to go to South Carolina and restore Asher cemetery. She’s finds out why she is drawn to the place. Amelia sees ghosts and they are not always friendly. Looking forward to the next book.
