Fascinating true story about a 5 year old boy who lives in extreme poverty in India, gets lost from his family and ends up in Calcutta where he survives on the streets by himself for several weeks and ultimately ends up adopted by an Australian family. As an adult he manages to find his home and family in India using Google Earth. I had to keep reminding myself that he was only 5 years old when he was surviving by himself on the streets! What a story! It's almost unreal what Saroo went through at 5 years old. (view spoiler)

The back of the book pretty much tells the whole tale...but reading the details inside the book makes it an amazing experience. The memories of this small boy are so real, and yet so incredible.

An excellent book with captivating insights into everyday life on the streets of Indian villages and cities.

I read this for Book-to-Movie club, and I'm really excited to see how I feel about the movie. The book is eye-opening, to say the least. Have some tissues ready for the read. It's quite an experience.
