Ooh! I loved this book.
I loved the idea of the reworking and change of direction of children's fairy tales into adult versions, and the way one short story led into the next one, and the drawings in the book, and the fact that the writing was exquisite.

This a a great little book, with retellings of old fairy tales. Some, like "Snow White" and "Beauty and the Beast," are easy to recognize, but I found I preferred not to wonder about which story was being retold if it didn't jump right out at me. Each story is its own little gem. And, while each story stands on its own, they're also linked, as a supporting character in each story is asked to tell her own story, thus becoming the protagonist of the next one.
