Shelves: middle-grade
I think these books have gotten significantly better as they've gone. The stakes are higher, the characters are more mature and less annoying, and there's less "oh we must protect them" from the other characters. I remembered the twist from when I'd read this the first time, but it was still exciting. Honestly, I don't think Kendra and Seth are like...traumatized enough, after all that's happened. Hard to believe Mull manages to wrap this whole thing in only one more book. ...more

My kids (ages 10 and 7) continue to be completely engaged with this series and we've moved immediately to Book 5. I enjoyed this installment the most of all, which is saying something because often, as the adult reader, I'm tired of a middle-grade series by book 4.
