Jason Dessen is a physics professor living with his wife and son in Chicago. Jason is happy but occasionally wonders what would have happened if he had stuck with his doctoral work and his wife had become an artist. Then one day Jason is attacked and he ends up in an alternate reality. There are a lot of twists and turns after this but I don't want to give the plot away. A gripping, fast read. Ripped through this in two sittings.
Mostly because of the plot.
What if?
Seriously, what if you could write your own history multiple ways?
Recommended to me by a friend who really sold it, of course it didn't seem as good as it sounded.
But still, it grabs your attention and keeps on moving rapidly to its conclusion.

This book is an interesting play on the infinite worlds quantum theory.

Unfortunately, the book often seemed like the author was trying really hard to convince himself that choosing a stable and comfortable family life with a less than could have been job is really great. The protagonist here is pulled from his comfortable quiet life by a version of himself that went on to have the stunning science career without the girl/kid he could have had. The concept that every choice you make creates an alternate reality is an interesting one - especially since there is science behind it suggesting the idea might not be a far-fetched fantasy. However, I found myself slogging through this book.

This is a science fiction thriller that reads like a modern comic book. It was really hard to get into the story, for me. It also became more and more ridiculous and cliched. (super evil science labs).
