I would actually give this a 3.5.
I was really into this book. Learning about Renee Ballard since this is the 1st book of the series was very interesting.
And the story line was really good.
I actually did some research and learned Connelly based this character on a real person. Mitzi Roberts. She is a LAPD detective.
Obviously, the main theme of this book is the difficulties of being a woman in LAPD. And it’s not surprising for this first book. I hope Connelly is done because this topic gets a litt ...more

I enjoyed getting to know the main character in this beginning of a new series.
