So I finished this last night. I didn't hate it.
When I first started, I had to set it down for a moment because I was going into this novel with the wrong thoughts. I knew it had mixed reviews and that there are some who hated it. I kept myself free from the reviews because I didn't want another persons thoughts to cloud mine.
Also I had mixed thoughts going in because why Snow?
Why did this guy need a back story of all the characters that Suzanne Collins could have picked to have a back story ...more

Do you like your characters simple? Do you like them to have either stupid motivations or completely non-believable ones? Do you like completely ridiculous romance with no chemistry? If so, this is the book for you.

Ugh! So awful. There was a lot to be irritated with in the Hunger Games trilogy, but at least it was a good story. This mess is incredibly boring & so very long, it could easily have lost half & been a better book for it. I don't care about Snow's motivations, he was a villain then & a villain now.

The backstory of President Snow and the Hunger Games is quite brilliant.

To be honest, i was not sure how i was going to feel about this book. I was worried that i could not be drawn into snow’s story. Thankfully, i was surprised and happy to be wrong. I loved learning more about Snow’s history and the history behind the games. It made me remember the original stories and added background information that helped me understand his interest in Katniss and why he was so against her winning the games and also why he was so obsessed with her proving her love to Peeta.
