What a fun loose retelling of fairy tales set in a dystopic world. I have liked the first 2 books in this series but this third one is the best one so far! Things are really coming to a head and am loving Cress' (aka Rapunzel) character here; her innocence & faith in her prince. Her charming prince, who isn't at all perfect (!), is the comic foil in this action-packed instalment to the series. Would love to see how these 2 will develop in the next book and of course, all the other pairings cuz I

Gah! So good.

Oftentimes, the next to last book in a series can feel simply like a setup for the final book. Not much happens or what does happen is half explained and you're clearly meant to wait for all the answers in the final book. Not so here. While Meyer clearly and definitely lays the groundwork for Winter (hello Princess Winter/Snow White!), this book furthers the plot in general and greatly adds to the overall series and the Lunar Chronicles universe at large. OK... I was a little hesitant to read this one because I figured that she would have to drop the ball at some point and the story would start to lag. Well, Meyer did not drop the ball. This book was really fun and I loved Cress. Meyer is great at creating unexpected connections between the characters as well.
I thought it was well crafted and paced.

Despite some of its flaws (absolutely zero queer characters being the big one for me) this series is just so much fun. I genuinely love all three of the main girls, and like that their voices and thoughts all feel distinct-- though I wanted about 100% more Scarlet in this book than there was. Really excited for the last installment... November is too long to wait!
