This was an uncomfortable and heartbreaking book...more so than most of Ms. Hannah's works. I enjoyed how we followed these sisters for over 10 years and got the opportunity to see how their bonds formed, were tested, even broken, and then reforged. It was an inspirational story regarding the stregth and importance of family, and on the flip side, how that loyalty can sometimes break you when it is at odds with your emotions, needs and desires. All 3 sisters had different personalities. There is a crisis that they can't agree on. It takes them several years for them to gather around and help each other for the outcome.
This book seemed to drag in the beginning, but it kept my attention to finish it.
