This was a completely new direction for Jasper Fforde — and one which was well worth exploring. I have a feeling this world could be easily re-used with different protagonists for a long time to come.
Personally, I'd say this is a great book to throw at any young, budding activist. This young adult/middle school novel was a lot of fun. It was about a foundling girl, Jennifer Strange, who iis managing a company that provides magical services. Unfortunately, the world's magic seems to be decreasing and the wizards are forced to use their magical skill for such mundane tasks such as rewiring houses and transporting packages (on flying carpets). I love Jasper Fforde. This is one of his less complex story lines but plenty to maintain interest
