Nora Seed is depressed and decides she has nothing left to live for. After swallowing a bunch of pills she end up in the Midnight Library where she can choose a different version of her life to live. She pops into the life in the present day with no memories of her past in that life which is weird. Unless she decides she is completely happy in the new life she'll return to the library. I read this at the beginning of the year, but I guess never marked it down here. The concept here is good--a chance to dip into lives almost lived. What if I'd married that high school sweetheart? What if I was famous? What if I were a scientist? An accountant? An eclipse photographer? Here in the midnight library, you can slip into the alternate worlds and see what it feels like to be there.
I enjoyed the mechanics of how this worked and it was easy enough to go along for the ride.

This book was very good. It is the first book I’ve read in awhile that I couldn’t put down. I would go to work and just spend the day longing to be free so I could hear the next chapter.
I listened to the audiobook read by Carey Mulligan so I will write a separate mini review about that below.
Honestly the book really affected me and I am still thinking about it so I need some time to write a proper review for it. But in the meantime if you are considering reading it, I would recommend it. It is ...more
