3.5 stars.
Continuing from Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise starts with Rose in Russia, on the hunt to find Dimitri so she can kill him and officially free his soul just as she knows he would have wanted.
Having counted down the days until I could read this book (mostly, my followers on Twitter suffered for this) and feeling like I could NOT wait another day to read, I've now got mixed feelings on the book.

Okay, so I'm still not enamored of this author's ability (or non-ability) to weave a series without repeating herself from one book to the next, but this book had me on the edge of my seat nearly from start to finish, which is pretty amazing since it's over 500 pages long. Richelle Mead is excellent with character development.

I'm debating on whether to give this 3 or 4 stars. Mead did set up Spirit Bound really nicely in the end & I think the 5th book in the series would be a lot better than this.
