There was something missing in Bayou Moon. It was just too similar to the first book but with a million uninteresting characters that got way too much playtime.
I didn't feel Cerise or the relationship with William. She was just a watered down copy of Rose: kick-ass, poor, fighting for her family and with a past relationship that left her disillusioned. William was really different from Declan - which was a good thing - and I liked how his animal nature prevented him from understanding social cue ...more

I want to give it a 4 because I like the Edge realm and I do think the story was interesting and well told, but I'm not in love with the characters like I was in the first book.
The biggest problem I had with Bayou Moon (and was a little disappointed by) was the story seemed like it was just following the formula of the first one. This was difficult to listen to at times. Lots of bad stuff happened, lots of creepy characters, but it was so so good! I'm just amazed at the way these authors are able to build worlds that I can almost just reach out and touch.
Both Cerise and William had been through a lot. But William's story really ripped my heart out. I was glad that they found each other even though they were both so stubborn at the end, I thought that they would blow it.

This series is so hard to classify. Kind of rural urban fantasy (if there is such a thing), kind of straight up fantasy, and kind of paranormal romance. Whatever it is, I do like it. Ilona Andrews writes some great heroines and I loved Cerise. She does have a lot in common with Rose from the first book so I do hope that changes up a little in the next but I liked them both so it was OK for me. William is also a wonderful hero. I like it when authors give shifters a different thought process than

Loved this book. William is a great character! I enjoyed Cerise as well, but William was the best in this book for me :D
